Polish champions Lech Poznan had their Europa League match against KI Klaksvik in the Faroe Islands postponed due to a flight traffic jam caused by fog on the islands. The original kick-off time was set for 6:30pm local time, but due to challenging weather conditions in the Faroes, the chartered plane did not take off as planned. Coach Niels Frederiksen assured his squad that if they flew on Thursday and played that day, they would have to leave early, so they still had the possibility of resting.
After attempting a flight from Bergen, Norway, the club managed to land safely at Vagar Airport in the Faroes at 3:30pm. UEFA initially delayed the kick-off time by two hours and fifteen minutes to 8:45pm local time but later postponed the game until Friday evening at 7:00pm.
Lech Poznan used a chartered plane instead of Atlantic Airways, the national airline of the Faroes which operates from Vagar Airport. This summer, both Hamrun Spartans of Malta and Koper from Slovenia also experienced delays into Vagar Airport before their European ties against local side NSI Runavik, each game facing a delayed kick-off time as a result.
