Lech Poznan starts defending Ekstraklasa title 2026/2027. The season will begin on July 24, 2026, and end on May 22, 2027. In this season, five teams will compete in European cups: Lech Poznan, Górnik Zabrze, Jagiellonia Białystok, Raków Częstochowa, and GKS Katowice. In Ekstraklasa, three teams from Krakow will also participate: Wisła Kraków, Wieczysta Kraków, and Cracovia. The season schedule will be announced after confirming the stadium for Wieczysta. The Department of Competition Logistics must take into account numerous mass events throughout Poland, especially during the summer period. The biggest challenge is the large number of factors that need to be considered simultaneously. For the first time in history, five Ekstraklasa clubs will compete in European cup qualifying rounds. This fact automatically complicates the creation of the calendar due to possible rescheduling of matches. However, of course, this „problem” delights us, as it is the result of excellent results of our clubs in Europe and shows the development of Ekstraklasa. The challenge is also related to the fact that three Ekstraklasa teams have their headquarters in the same city. We have not had a similar situation for over 30 years. We are talking about teams playing on stadiums located just a kilometer apart, which further complicates logistics and is a great challenge for the entire city, its administration, and local services. Therefore, we do not hide that we treat the issue of the final decision on the stadium where Wieczysta will play as absolutely priority.
