On Wednesday, August 12th at 7:30 PM Polish time (6:30 PM local time), Lech Poznan will travel to Torshavn for a match against KI Klaksvik in the third round of Europa League qualifiers. This game is crucial for the chances of the Polish champions to advance to the fourth round of eliminations 2026/2027.
KI Klaksvik, one of the most unique clubs in Europe, has previously played on its Djúpumýra stadium. However, this time the match will take place at Tórsvøllur stadium, where Lech Poznan will have to adapt to different conditions for training and playing.
The Tórsvøllur stadium can accommodate 6-6,500 spectators and was built in 1999. It has undergone several renovations, with the most significant ones taking place in 2010 and 2021. The stadium features three stands and characteristic lighting masts. In 2012, a synthetic pitch was installed, which is now five years old.
Lech Poznan will not have the opportunity to train at Tórsvøllur before the match. The Polish club would have had to travel to Goličin to practice on the synthetic surface, but coach Niels Frederiksen opted against this idea. In contrast, KI Klaksvik is counting on eliminating Lech Poznan by playing on a synthetic pitch and in temperatures of 12 degrees Celsius, which are expected on Thursday evening.
The match will take place on August 13th at 7:30 PM Polish time. Tickets for this event cost between 50 to 150 Danish kroner (between 30 zł to 90 zł), and residents of the islands can purchase them online.
