Lech Poznań have rejected an official offer from FC Copenhagen for winger Patrik Wålemark. The Poznań-based club has no intention of selling one of its best players, even if the Danish champions submit an improved proposal.
The news of the rejected bid, which could have reached 5 million euros with bonuses, was reported on Thursday by Transfery.info, citing Meczyki.pl journalist Piotr Koźmiński. Lech Poznań are currently second in the Ekstraklasa, with 10 points from four matches and just two points behind leaders Legia Warszawa. The team has scored eight goals this season while conceding only three.
Why does Lech refuse to sell Wålemark?
Patrik Wålemark is a key player for Lech's tactical setup. The 24-year-old Swedish winger has made 11 appearances this campaign, scoring six goals and providing four assists. His total contribution for Kolejorz stands at 16 goals and nine assists in 56 matches. The club acquired him in early 2025 for 1.8 million euros after a loan spell at Feyenoord. The investment has paid off handsomely, and Wålemark is now an offensive pillar.
Piotr Koźmiński highlighted the club's stance, saying, "Kolejor does not intend to sell the winger even in the case of a better offer." The decision is driven by sporting ambitions. Lech Poznań are fighting for the Polish championship, and losing such a productive player mid-season would be a major blow. What did Copenhagen's offer look like?
FC Copenhagen tabled a concrete offer that, according to reports, could ultimately amount to around five million euros, including various bonuses. The Danish club has experience with transfers from the Polish league, exemplified by the purchase of goalkeeper Kamil Grabara from Liverpool in the summer of 2021 for 6.2 million euros. This time, however, they met firm resistance.
Koźmiński also noted that "FC Copenhagen has not yet said the last word regarding Patrik Wålemark." Despite this, Lech's management is clear. Wålemark is considered untouchable, and his contract still has a long time to run. The club prefers to build the team around him rather than accept even financially attractive proposals in the middle of the season.
What are Lech's plans for the coming weeks?
The team is now focused on league play. After a strong start to the season with three wins and one draw, the goal is to maintain pressure on Legia Warszawa. The current Ekstraklasa standings can be followed in our standings service.
The next test will be an away match against Wisła Płock scheduled for December 17, 2026. The opponent currently occupies 16th place in the league. Before this match, Lech has a chance to strengthen their position in the table. The schedule of all upcoming fixtures is available on the fixtures page.
The ultimate confirmation of Wålemark's importance to the Lech Poznań project is not only the rejection of the Danish offer but also his place in the starting lineup for the upcoming match against Wisła Płock.
