Former Poland international Maciej Makuszewski has named Lech Poznan as a prime favorite for the Polish championship, stating that in the domestic league the team can only lose to itself. In comments for the outlet Weszło, the former winger also assessed the chances of Jagiellonia Bialystok and addressed the situation of coach Adrian Siemieniec.
Lech Poznan currently sits second in the Ekstraklasa with 10 points from four matches, just two points behind leaders Legia Warsaw. Kolejorz has three wins and one draw, with a recent form of WWWD. The team has scored eight goals so far, conceding only three, for a solid +5 goal difference.
What are Lech's title chances?
Maciej Makuszewski was clear in his assessment for Weszło. He believes the title race will be between two clubs. "I think in Bialystok nobody is ready for Adrian Siemieniec's departure. You cannot prepare for such a situation," the former player said, commenting on the possible future of Jagiellonia's coach. Makuszewski added that Siemieniec stayed longer and it did not affect him negatively, and his successor will have to step into very big shoes.
In the context of the title race, the former winger gave Lech Poznan a 50% chance of winning the championship. He assigned Jagiellonia a 45% chance, leaving just 5% for all other teams.
