Lech Poznań have a deep and strong squad that can easily handle playing every three days. That is the view of Radomiak Radom coach Rafał Grzyb ahead of their Ekstraklasa clash this Sunday.
“This team is at such a stage and level that playing every three days is not a problem for them,” said Grzyb. “Besides, Lech's squad is broad and strong, and even with certain rotations there is no drop in level or intensity,” added the 43-year-old manager.
Lech Poznań are indeed facing a busy schedule. Last week the team lost 4-0 to Crystal Palace in London in the Europa League, and earlier fell 2-1 to Gornik Zabrze in the league. Despite these away defeats, Lech Poznań sit fourth in the Ekstraklasa with 16 points from seven matches. In domestic league play at home, Kolejorz remain unbeaten, with three wins and a draw from four games at their own stadium.
Sunday's match against Radomiak is a chance to get back to winning ways. Lech Poznań beat their opponents 4-1 in the last head-to-head meeting. Radomiak, who are 14th in the table, have scored just six goals in eight matches this season. Their top scorer, Rafał Wolski, only has a 50% chance of playing in Poznań.
Grzyb also expressed regret over the poor start of Polish teams in European competitions. “Considering Polish football and the ranking, it's a great shame that in their first Europa League matches, both Lech and Jagiellonia Białystok did not get even a point,” the coach admitted.
