Lech Poznań has sold striker Bryan Fiabema to Norwegian club Fredrikstad after he completed medical tests in Norway and finalized the details of a long‑term contract. Other clubs, including Silkeborg, ZTE and Molde, expressed interest, but Fredrikstad was ultimately chosen.
Fiabema joined Lech in July 2024. Prior to that he played in Chelsea’s youth teams and appeared in 30 reserve matches for Real Sociedad. He was named in Real Sociedad’s first‑team squad three times but never made a debut. With Lech he played 48 games, scoring two goals and providing two assists. In January 2025 he was loaned to Dutch side ADO Den Haag.
His contract with Lech runs until the end of the current season, but it is likely to be terminated early. Lech will pay him €140,000. Although he was acquired for free, Chelsea had paid Tromsø IL €600,000 for him in 2020, indicating a decline in his value.
Fredrikstad, after 17 matches of the Norwegian Eliteserien, sits in eighth place with 23 points. The move would mark Fiabema’s return to his homeland and another attempt to rebuild his career.
Lech, which is parting with the Norwegian, is currently focused on several fronts. After three Ekstraklasa matches the Poznań side has seven points, and two matches have been postponed to be played on different dates. In the Europa League qualifiers they thumped FC Thun 7‑0 in the first leg of the fourth round. The return leg will take place on Thursday, 27 August.
