Lech Poznań has been punished by UEFA for the conduct of their fans during a Europa League match. The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body (CEDB) has fined the club €25,000 and issued a suspended ban on the sale of away tickets for one UEFA match.

The commission found breaches of two articles of the disciplinary regulations. “Charges against Lech Poznań: Racist and/or discriminatory behaviour, Art. 14(2) UEFA Disciplinary Regulations (DR); Ignition of pyrotechnics or other objects, Art.” stated the CEDB in an official release. The fine is split into €15,000 for the first offence and €10,000 for the second.

The suspended sanction is valid for two years. This means if another serious incident involving Lech supporters occurs within that period, the club will have to play its next European away match without any away fans. The decision follows the 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on September 25.

The club, currently 3rd in the Ekstraklasa with 19 points, must now focus on domestic matters. Following a recent run of WLLWW in their last five games, Lech face 15th-placed Slask Wrocław on October 10. The financial and disciplinary penalties serve as a stark warning for future European away trips.
