Lech Poznań has set a new financial benchmark, generating 248.4 million zł in revenue for the 2024/2025 season. This marks the first time the club has surpassed the 200 million zł threshold, shattering its previous record.

Tomasz Kacprzycki, the club's financial director, confirmed the figures based on a Grant Thornton report on Ekstraklasa club finances. “For the first time we have broken through the two hundred million barrier in terms of revenue,” said Kacprzycki. “In my opinion, this is the harvest of over a dozen years of work under a coherent strategy.”

In the league-wide revenue ranking, Lech placed second, behind Legia Warsaw and ahead of Jagiellonia Białystok. Notably, excluding income from player sales, the club's revenue of 233.7 million zł would have been the highest in the Ekstraklasa.

Sources of growth

European competition provided a significant boost. Participation in the UEFA Europa Conference League in the 2024/2025 season earned Lech approximately 9.43 million euros, equating to over 41 million zł. The following season, the club played in the UEFA Europa League group stage, where financial rewards are estimated to be 20-25 percent higher. This difference could have meant an additional 10 million zł in revenue.

The club also grew its core operational revenue, which nearly doubled over five years. Full stands at the Bułgarska Street stadium also contribute. In the 2024/2025 season, Lech Poznań ranked seventh in the league for transfer income, earning over 15 million zł from player sales. The entire Ekstraklasa exceeded 300 million zł in total transfer income for the first time, a 37 percent year-on-year increase.

A comfortable market position

This strong financial health is changing the club's approach to the transfer market. “We did not want to weaken ourselves,” emphasised Kacprzycki. “We are in such a comfortable moment that we can afford to reject offers which, in our opinion, are below the market value of our players.”

This strategy proved effective last summer, as the reigning Polish champions did not have to sell key assets despite receiving offers. The club now focuses on further growth through sporting results, regular European participation, marketing, and future profitable transfers. Revenue from television rights is also a key element, with the club hoping for growth when the current Canal+ media deal expires after the 2026/2027 season.

Financial strength aligns with on-pitch form. Lech Poznań sits third in the Ekstraklasa with 19 points from 8 games, three points behind leaders Gornik Zabrze. In their last league match, Niels Frederiksen's side thrashed Radomiak Radom 5-1. The next test is an away fixture against 15th-placed Slask Wroclaw on October 10th.
